Brothers and Sisters by Heart

Updated: Feb 23, 2023

We were born from different mothers, raised by different fathers, taught by different parents, and grew up with different cultures and beliefs yet we were bonded by what we have gone through. Seeing my classmate during my PSBRC, PSFTP, and BISOC again reminds me of the hardships we hurdled together during our training as recruits of Police Regional Office 9.

The term "brothers and sisters by heart" is often used to describe the close bond that exists among police officers, who form a brotherhood or sisterhood in the course of their work. This bond is forged through shared experiences, the need to rely on each other in dangerous situations, and a common mission to protect and serve their communities. It is a bond that extends beyond the workplace and often lasts for a lifetime.

They were those people that I hold on to and maybe they feel the same way. We were together for almost 22 months until I left for a bigger opportunity given by the PNPA. We had so many memories to cherish. We've been together through ups and downs, suffered together the consequences of our failures and mistakes, celebrated together on our success, slept together under the bright moon and stars, and trained together under the radiating heat of the sun. We all conquered those obstacles and hardships together.

The brotherhood of police officers refers to the strong bond and sense of camaraderie that exists among law enforcement personnel. This bond is often forged through shared experiences, including the daily risks and challenges of the job, as well as the need to rely on each other in high-pressure situations. The brotherhood of police officers often extends beyond individual departments or agencies and can create a strong sense of solidarity and support within the law enforcement community.

We may not have the same blood that runs through our veins but, we have the same heart bonded with those memories that we will never forget. Our eyes may forget but the heart will always know.
