Kapwa Ko, Sagot Ko

Updated: Feb 16, 2023

"Kapwa Ko, Sagot Ko" is one of the Programs of the Dapitan City Police Station wherein selected poorest families of a barangay are given relief goods as support to their livelihood. Recipients of this program are chosen by the barangay captain from the top 5 poorest families in their barangay and submit the list to the City Police Station. Chosen families are given at least once a month of this relief goods as a simple sign of support to them to continue living despite the hardships they are facing in life.

Recipient families are truly grateful for receiving such help from our police officers. It may be small but its value to the receiver is worth more than enough. This program also enhances our process of building a relationship with the community which is part of the PNP program, KASIMBAYANAN.

"Kapwa ko, Sagot Ko" is a Filipino phrase that means "My fellow human being, I am here to help you." The phrase embodies the spirit of Bayanihan, a Filipino cultural value that emphasizes communal unity and cooperation. The concept of "Kapwa ko, Sagot Ko" is often used in the Philippines to encourage people to help others in need. It highlights the importance of empathy, compassion, and social responsibility, and encourages individuals to view others as their "kapwa" or fellow human beings, rather than as strangers or enemies. Our PNP organization practices such a concept to win the hearts of the Filipino people.

The idea of "Kapwa ko, Sagot Ko" is deeply rooted in Filipino culture and is a reflection of the country's strong sense of community and social responsibility. It serves as a reminder that, as human beings, we are all connected and have a responsibility to help and support one another, especially during difficult times.

As a cadet and a future officer, the responsibility is already anchored on my shoulder, the responsibility to serve the Filipino people. This program I have experienced is just a part of a thousand pieces I am bound to discover in life while serving to perform my duty and at the same time while giving my whole to serve the people.
